New York Giants wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins has not only made a name for himself on the football field but also off the field and in the community around him. Throughout his career, Hodgins has relied on his faith to guide him, finding strength and purpose in his journey to the NFL.

Originally from California, Hodgins attended Berean Christian High School. A highly sought-after 4-star recruit, he committed to Oregon State University, where he began to showcase his skills on the football field. From his true freshman year in 2017, Hodgins made an impact, steadily improving each season. The Buffalo Bills selected Hodgins in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, marking the beginning of his professional journey. However, his path was not without challenges, as he faced injuries and setbacks during his early days with the Bills. Hodgins says that a foundation of faith allowed him to grow even during the challenges.

“Faith has always been important, I was raised in a Christian home. Loving God and loving others and honoring Him in everything we do was always talked about in our house. I’m thankful for my parents made sure I learned about God and his word growing up.”

Despite being placed on injured reserve and undergoing shoulder surgery, Hodgins’ was committed to his dream. His resilience and commitment to his faith kept him focused on his ultimate goal. After being waived and re-signed, Hodgins made his NFL debut in December 2021, showcasing his potential in the league. On August 30, 2022, Hodgins faced another hurdle as he was waived again by the Bills. However, faith allowed him to say focused and is what he credits everything he does to.

“My faith plays a huge role in my football career. It’s what drives me to work as hard as I do everyday. I like to lean on Colossians 3:23 ‘Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.’ It reminds me who I’m working for and why I’m doing what I’m doing, not for fame, money, or people… I go to work everyday to honor the Lord and the gifts he gave me and giving my all.”

On November 2, 2022, the New York Giants claimed Hodgins off waivers, providing him with a fresh start. In the second half of the 2022 season, Hodgins emerged as a key contributor to the Giants’ offense. His remarkable performances, including touchdowns in crucial games and a standout playoff performance against the Minnesota Vikings, solidified his place in the team. As he has overcome challenges, Hodgins envisions his impact reaching beyond the football field. With his gifts, Hodgins hopes to make an impact on the community around him.

“My biggest impact I hope to have is just to continue to be a light in the different locker rooms I play in and helping people on their journey’s with the Lord. Helping people who are less fortunate and spreading the gospel.”

As Hodgins makes strides on the field as a member of the New York Giants, what is even more impressive is his commitment to being a positive light in the lives of his teammates and in the community. His journey is a testament to the power of faith, hard work, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the world. In Isaiah Hodgins, the New York Giants have gained a player who makes a difference both on and off the field.
