For Briggs, her success on the court is deeply rooted in faith. She sees her athletic journey as a testament to her trust in God. “I believe that having a strong faith in athletics is one of the best things any athlete can do, especially at the collegiate level,” Briggs shares. “At this level, you may find yourself in adverse situations that only having faith and trusting in God can get you out of. Faith is believing in things we cannot see.”

This belief has been a guiding force for Briggs, especially during challenging moments. She lives by the mantra “Audience of One,” which she has inscribed on all her court shoes as a daily reminder of who and what she plays for. “Trusting in God, that He will be there for us no matter what, gives me peace. Even when faith is difficult, it places my mind at ease knowing that all things will work together for the good and that God has a specific purpose for each and every one of us.”

Raised with a strong foundation in faith, Briggs emphasizes the importance of spiritual strength in her life and encourages others to cultivate the same. “Faith had always been a part of my life since I was a young child. I was raised to understand the meaning and importance of having faith. Faith is what will get you through the times you never thought you would. I encourage anyone to have faith and trust in Him.”

As she enters her sophomore year, Briggs is determined to use her platform as a student-athlete to inspire others. “I want my platform and my God-given gift to play volleyball to shine a light on all those who come across any of my platforms. I want people to know that anything is possible. No matter what your situation may look like right now, that is not the final result. Believe. Have faith and trust that He has you in His hands.”

Hope Briggs is not just a standout volleyball player, but also a beacon of faith and perseverance. As she continues to grow and excel at Jackson State, her story will serve as an inspiration to many, both on and off the court.
