Reagan Rutherford, widely recognized as one of the premier outside hitters in college volleyball, has captured the hearts of fans nationwide with her exceptional skills on the court. Following the announcement of her transfer to Texas, she is set to join a team that stands as the defending titleholders, aiming to contribute to yet another championship victory for the Longhorns. In the midst of this transition to a new team, Rutherford expresses the importance of being defined by more than her on-court performance. “I grew up listening to the word of God. However, as I’ve gotten older I strive for a closer spiritual connection.” During her junior season at Kentucky in 2022, Reagan Rutherford showcased her prowess on the volleyball court, earning accolades such as AVCA All-America, All-SEC, and AVCA All-Region. Her senior season followed with similar accomplishments, finishing the season being named All-SEC and AVCA All-American. As she has become a star on the court, she says her faith is what guides her in every match. “My faith impacts my volleyball career in a way that I am confident in myself because I know the Lord has his hands surrounding me.” “I am faithful in God because He has never lost a battle and I know he has a plan for me, therefore I am patient and trust in Him to lead me down the right path.” While Reagan Rutherford’s statistics and achievements speak volumes, it is her faith that has set her apart. With a heart for others and a desire to serve the community around her, Rutherford’s journey is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and faith. As she puts on the burnt orange jersey for Texas, Rutherford’s story continues to unfold, promising more chapters of inspiration, growth, and success on and off the volleyball court.
