Reagan Rutherford - Redefining Victory

Reagan Rutherford, widely recognized as one of the premier outside hitters in college volleyball, has captured the hearts of fans nationwide with her exceptional skills on the court. Following the announcement of her transfer to Texas, she is set to join a team that stands as the defending titleholders, aiming to contribute to yet another championship victory for the Longhorns. In the midst of this transition to a new team, Rutherford expresses the importance of being defined by more than her on-court performance.

Before her collegiate career, Rutherford’s talent was already evident. Ranked as the No. 10 recruit in the country by PrepVolleyball, she earned several accolades, including being a First-Team AVCA Under Armour All-American. Her high school career, marked by individual awards and team successes, set the stage for her collegiate journey. As she has grown on the court, Reagan says she has grown in her faith along the way.

“I grew up listening to the word of God. However, as I’ve gotten older I strive for a closer spiritual connection.”

During her junior season at Kentucky in 2022, Reagan Rutherford showcased her prowess on the volleyball court, earning accolades such as AVCA All-America, All-SEC, and AVCA All-Region. Her senior season followed with similar accomplishments, finishing the season being named All-SEC and AVCA All-American. As she has become a star on the court, she says her faith is what guides her in every match.

“My faith impacts my volleyball career in a way that I am confident in myself because I know the Lord has his hands surrounding me.”

As Reagan embarks on a new chapter with the Texas Longhorns, she emphasizes the role of faith in her journey. Trusting in God’s plan, she sees His guiding hand leading her to Austin. Beyond the wins and losses on the court, Rutherford maintains an identity grounded in faith, remaining patient and trusting in the path laid out for her.

“I am faithful in God because He has never lost a battle and I know he has a plan for me, therefore I am patient and trust in Him to lead me down the right path.”

While Reagan Rutherford’s statistics and achievements speak volumes, it is her faith that has set her apart. With a heart for others and a desire to serve the community around her, Rutherford’s journey is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and faith.
