Chriss’s journey to collegiate football began with a stellar high school career at Madison Prep in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As a junior, he threw for 2,005 yards and 25 touchdowns, leading his team to the Class 3A state championship. He added 897 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground, earning District 7-3A Offensive MVP, Advocate All-Metro Offensive MVP, and First Team All-State honors.

Before joining Houston, Chriss played two seasons at Louisiana, where he made a significant impact. In his time there, he appeared in 12 games, completing 111 of 168 passes for 1,331 yards and 12 touchdowns, achieving an impressive 66% completion rate. Chriss also proved to be a formidable rushing threat. In the 2023 season alone, he rushed for 492 yards, averaging 61.5 yards per game and 6.7 yards per carry, scoring six rushing touchdowns. His rushing performance was outstanding, ranking second in FBS among quarterbacks with at least 50 attempts.

Zeon Chriss’s success on the field is deeply intertwined with his faith. Raised in a religious household, Chriss has always found strength and guidance in his relationship with God.

“Faith plays a role in my football career because of the trials and tribulations I have to endure. When things go bad, I look towards God, and that’s where I get my strength from,” Chriss shares.

He often reflects on Psalm 121:1-2, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”

As Chriss matured, his faith grew stronger, and he acknowledges the significant role it has played in his life.

“I was raised in church, but as I started to grow up and mature, I really grew my relationship with the Lord, and he’s been carrying me through my life. He’s never let me down yet,” he says.

Chriss aspires to make a profound impact beyond football. “The biggest impact I want to make is to spread the gospel and share the love of Jesus Christ. I want to show people you don’t have to follow the wrong things and the wrong crowd to be successful or find peace. You can be successful through Jesus Christ and have peace through him.”

As Zeon Chriss embarks on his journey with Houston, fans and teammates alike have high expectations. His remarkable skills, resilience, and faith make him a player to watch. With his sights set on success both on and off the field, Chriss is poised to make a significant impact at Houston and beyond.
