Cara Cresse - True Fulfillment

As Louisville middle blocker Cara Cresse has risen through the ranks of college volleyball, she has remained humble in the midst of the joys and the struggles. Looking to use her platform for something greater than herself, Cara says that her faith is what has led her to where she is today.

Raised as a pastor’s kid, Cara’s roots in faith run deep. Her family’s move from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Fort Wayne, Indiana, was a response to her father’s call to ministry. Growing up surrounded by those leading her in faith, Cara says these teachings were ingrained in her from an early age. However, it wasn’t until her senior year of high school that she says her faith truly became her own.

“My faith has always been a vital part of my life,” Cara reflects, “but I reached a point where I realized that I couldn’t do anything on my own. I need the Lord, and He has never left my side.”

This deep-rooted faith has been Cara’s guiding light, especially as she navigates the challenges of being a collegiate athlete.

“My faith has grown immensely since playing volleyball at a D1 school,” she shares. “Being surrounded by nonbelievers has been difficult, but I have felt God use me in ways I never expected.”

For Cara, volleyball isn’t just a game—it’s a platform to showcase God’s grace and love.

“I pray that each time I step onto the court, I will bring glory to God and bring to light all that He has done,” she says.

Despite the competitive environment of Division 1 athletics, Cara’s faith remains steadfast. It’s not just about winning matches or earning accolades; it’s about embodying the values of compassion, integrity, and humility—attributes she sees reflected in her faith.

“Trusting His plan for me gave me peace,” she says, reflecting on her decision to attend the University of Louisville. “Now I feel exactly where I am called to be.”

Cara’s journey serves as an inspiration to many, both on and off the court. Her commitment to playing for God’s glory serves as a reminder that true fulfillment comes not from achievements but from having an identity that goes far beyond the results of the game.

As Cara continues her volleyball career, she does so with a profound sense of joy and gratitude, knowing that she is not just playing for herself but as a vessel for God’s work. In every aspect of her game, she finds an opportunity to share God’s love and grace.
