TreVeyon Henderson - Coming Back Stronger

TreVeyon Henderson’s journey in college football began with an explosive first year, as the Ohio State running back burst onto the scene with a sensational freshman season. However, his path took an unexpected turn in 2022 when an injury sidelined him, disrupting the future he had initially envisioned for himself. Despite the setback, Henderson’s resilience and faith propelled him forward, shaping not only his athletic career, but his life as well.

Hailing from Hopewell High School in Virginia, Henderson emerged as a standout talent, garnering over 4,000 rushing yards and 50 touchdowns during his high school career. His junior year, in particular, showcased an impressive stat line of 2,424 yards and 45 touchdowns, earning him widespread recognition and accolades.

Upon his arrival at Ohio State in January 2021, Henderson wasted no time in leaving his mark on the college football landscape. In his freshman season, he set records and garnered accolades, establishing himself as one of the nation’s top running backs. However, in 2022, a setback in the form of injury prompted a series of life changing events for Henderson.

Reflecting on the moment, Henderson shares, “I came to faith in 2023, it was in December 2022 after my injury when God sat me down and had me look back over my life,” Henderson revealed. “I had been living the wrong way. It was in that moment when I turned to Him and started to get to know Him through His Word. As I got to know Him through His son Jesus Christ, my faith in Him started to grow and in April 2023, I decided to repent and give my life to Jesus, and start following Him.”

At that moment, Henderson says he could see everything through a different lens. He started to live in a way that served others and not himself, and to reflect love and encouragement to all those around him.

Henderson says his faith has gone far beyond just the field as he looks to serve others in any way that he can.

“My faith in the Lord doesn’t just play the biggest role in my career, but it plays the biggest role in my life,” he says.

For Henderson, football is more than just a game; it’s a platform to share a message of hope and redemption.

“I pray that the biggest impact I can make with the platform and gifts that God has given me is to continue to do the work he has called me to do, which is lead people to Him,” he expressed. With each play on the field, Henderson seeks to inspire others and glorify God through his actions.

As Henderson continues his collegiate career at Ohio State, his story serves as a powerful reminder of the power of faith and resilience.
