His achievements, such as being named the Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year and participating in prestigious events like the U.S. Army Bowl and the Under Armour All-America Game, solidified his status as a standout player.

“My dad grew up in the church so he taught me at a young age to give praise and glory to God for everything. As I’ve grown older I’ve took it upon myself to get around people that can help me learn and grow in His word to allow me to spread it,” Avery says.

For Avery Johnson, faith is something that he says shapes every aspect of his football career. He says faith is what keeps him grounded and focused amid the challenges of college football.

In his own words, “Faith plays a huge role in my football career. I am blessed enough to be in a position where I can use my platform to spread His word.”

Avery says he aspires to emulate CJ Stroud, who openly expresses gratitude to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in every interview. Johnson believes that if every player on each team followed suit, the world would be a better place.

With a humility that reflects his faith, Johnson states, “I aspire to use my platform to give thanks because without Him I am nothing.”

Johnson’s faith is something he says influences every aspect of his being, including his performance on the football field. In the 2023 season, Johnson showcased his talent as the starting quarterback for Kansas State. Notable achievements include being the Pop-Tarts Bowl MVP, National True Freshman of the Week, and Honorable Mention Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year. Avery says that faith is the reason he is where he is today.

“I know that I would not be in the position I am today if it wasn’t for God continuing to bless me and watch over me.”

Avery Johnson’s story is a testament to the intersection of faith, talent, and hard work. As he continues to excel on the football field, Johnson remains committed to using his platform to spread a message of gratitude and humility, echoing the values instilled in him since childhood. As Avery prepares for what lies ahead, he looks to inspire young athletes throughout the world and prove that success is not just measured in touchdowns but in the character and values one upholds along the way.
