Helping guide the Florida Gators to their appearance in the College World Series, Brandon Sproat has played a key role in his 4 years with the Gators. After an impressive high school career in Pace, Florida, Sproat has seen his role increase each year that he has been in Gainesville.

After Sproat was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2022 MLB Draft, he ended up returning to Florida. While the decision was not an easy one, Sproat says that he has seen God working throughout the situation. Having never made it past the regional in the past 2 years, Sproat says it was an emotional journey to make it to the College World Series and advance past the Super Regional.
“After we won the super to go to Omaha, I just broke down in tears. I realized why God didn’t want me to leave Florida just yet because it was always one of my dreams to make it to Omaha.”
As Sproat has seen God’s plan play out, he says he has learned always to put things in His hands. Although he doesn’t know what the future holds, he says with his gifts on the field he just hopes to always play for something greater than himself. Now on the national stage, he looks to glorify God with every opportunity that he has.

Sproat says that putting his trust in God has allowed him to take the pressure off of his performance, and instead take the field enjoying every second he gets to play the game that he loves. Through his play, he hopes to point others to the joy he finds in his faith. That remains his biggest goal, even as the Gators play on the biggest stage.
“The biggest impact I hope to have with my platform and gifts is to glorify God in everything I do.”
Florida is now preparing for game 1 against LSU, a best-of-3 series to determine a champion. As Sproat looks to contribute in any way he can to the Gators, he will be putting his faith in God and playing with confidence knowing he is loved and valued regardless of his performance on the mound. Through it all, Sproat hopes to glorify God in everything that he does.
