Born and raised in South Africa, Neo faced profound loss at a young age, losing both of his parents. Yet, amidst the darkest of times, he found solace and strength in his faith.

“Without the guidance and support from my father in heaven, I can easily say what I have today wouldn’t be existent,” Neo reflects, his words resonating with a deep sense of gratitude.

It was through the roughest times of his life that Neo discovered his faith in God. At the age of 12, Neo ventured into the world of sports, receiving a full scholarship to Maritzburg College, one of the best high schools in South Africa. Initially, the scholarship was for rugby and cricket, but life had a different plan. Neo’s talents soon led to a full ride in track and field, setting the stage for his remarkable journey.

In 10th grade, Neo’s faith took a central role in his life as he became a student preacher at Maritzburg College’s College for Christ. This role not only enriched his spiritual journey but also solidified his commitment to serving others.

The turning point came in 11th grade when Neo received a life-changing opportunity – a full scholarship to Spire Academy Institute in Geneva, Ohio, one of the top sports high schools in the United States. It was a dream come true for Neo, an opportunity to pursue his passion for track and field at an elite level.

However, just as Neo’s dreams were about to take flight, adversity struck again. In December 2022, he suffered a devastating injury, tearing both his pcl and mcl, just before the season was set to begin. The prognosis was grim, with doctors estimating a nine-month recovery period. But Neo’s faith and determination continued to carry him through.

With the guidance of faith, Neo soon began his rehab and made a remarkable recovery in just four months. His return to the track was nothing short of spectacular, setting a high school record in his first race back. This extraordinary feat caught the attention of over 40 Division I schools, opening doors to a multitude of opportunities.

Yet, through every triumph and setback, Neo remains steadfast in his faith, acknowledging the hand of God in his journey.

“I don’t believe in luck and coincidence,” Neo asserts. “My father was behind all of that, and I can’t thank him enough for the position he put me in.”

In the midst of numerous offers, Neo made the decision to commit to Florida State University, drawn to its renowned sprints program. His commitment to FSU marks a new chapter in his journey, one filled with endless possibilities and boundless potential.

As Neo embarks on this new chapter, he carries with him the wisdom of Proverbs 16:4 – “The LORD has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.” For Neo, every twist and turn in his journey has served a purpose, shaping him into the athlete and individual he is today.

In Neo Mosebi’s remarkable story, we find a testament to the power of faith, resilience, and the unwavering belief that everything happens for a reason. As he continues to chase his dreams on the track, Neo’s journey serves as an inspiration to us all, a reminder that with faith and perseverance, anything is possible.
