After playing and starting in all 68 games for TCU, Tre Richardson III has become a fan favorite in Fort Worth and throughout the world of college baseball. Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2023, Tre’s life in baseball goes beyond the diamond. Rooted in his faith, Tre’s identity is anchored in his relationship with Christ, providing him with his perspective on both success and failure. Tre’s baseball journey began at Baylor before he transferred to Texas Christian University (TCU). After arriving in Fort Worth, Tre he emerged as a star infielder, showcasing not only his skills on the field but commitment to the community around him as well. Tre’s experiences throughout his life have helped shape him and his outlook. “Faith is the only thing that keeps me going in not only baseball but in life,” Tre reflects. “Success isn’t guaranteed in both, but my relationship with Christ allows me to see failure as the Lord teaching me a lesson instead of seeing it as only failure.” Tre’s understanding of success and failure reflects his connection with his faith. Rather than viewing setbacks as obstacles, he sees them as opportunities for growth and learning, trusting that God has a plan for him. This mindset has not only allowed Tre to navigate the challenges of a baseball career but has also provided him with resilience in the face of life’s uncertainties. “My spiritual walk has been one of ups and downs. I’m human, and like all humans, I’m a sinner,” Tre admits. “The thing that’s kept my head afloat is knowing that he already won the battle, and regardless of my shortcomings, his love for me is unconditional.” Tre’s acknowledgment of his humanity and imperfections is a testament to his humility and genuine self-awareness. He recognizes the ongoing nature of his journey, understanding that growth and self-improvement are integral aspects of his faith. “It’s still a journey that I know I’ve only begun, but for me, it’s important to try and live my life as Christ-like as possible,” Tre shares. His commitment to living a life aligned with his values extends beyond the baseball field, impacting every aspect of his life. “At the end of the day, I just want to live my life according to his plan for me. Baseball is what I do, but my identity is in Christ,” Tre emphasizes. “I use baseball and my platform as my way to glorify the Lord. I’m truly just a living testimony and a soldier of his army.” Tre’s perspective serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and believers alike. His ability to integrate his faith into his career is what he credits for allowing him to take the field everyday. As Tre continues to make strides in the world of baseball, his faith will undoubtedly remain the cornerstone of his identity, both on and off the field.
