One of the top newcomers in all of college volleyball, Baylor freshman Kyndal Stowers has quickly made an impact since arriving in Waco. In just her first year with the program, Kyndal has played in all 26 sets of the year and is the Bears leader in kills.

As she has become a star on the court, she says that she would not be here without faith. Instilled in her from a young age, Kyndal says that trusting in God’s plan is what has gotten her to where she is today.

A native of Denton, Texas, Kyndal was a star at Guyer High School. Named one of the top recruits in her class, Kyndal could not wait for all the future would hold. Her faith was tested, however, in 2022 when she suffered a torn labrum. Stripped of volleyball, Kyndal says she learned to place her trust in God.

“If I didn’t have Jesus in my life at that time, it would’ve felt like my whole life had been taken away from me because I no longer had volleyball. But because I had a relationship with Jesus, I knew the true meaning of my life. I knew that my worth was not given to me through volleyball, but it was given to me through Jesus.”

Now back and better than ever in the 2023 season with the Bears, Kyndal says she hopes to give God glory every time she steps onto the court. Regardless of the outcome, Kyndal says that every day is an opportunity to do what she loves and use it to point others to the faith that she holds close.

“My faith plays a huge role in my volleyball career. When I go through rough patches in volleyball, whether it be mental or physical, I always have Jesus to rely on because He is always consistent. He guides me through the rough games, weeks, and seasons. My faith also pushes me to work harder because I know that I can use volleyball to grow my platform in order to spread the gospel message.”

With her career only just beginning, Kyndal has already cemented her name as one of the top outside hitters in the sport. However, for Kyndal it is worth so much more than the accolades and the wins. Throughout her career, Kyndal says she has learned that volleyball is a game of mistakes. And, like life, the search for perfection is one that never ends. It is in this search that Kyndal says she has found the perfect love of God.

“There is only one person who is perfect, and it is not me. Volleyball taught me to give up all my sins and let Jesus wipe my slate clean every day.”

As Kyndal continues to live out her faith, she has impressed so many with who she is both on and off the court. A source of encouragement to those around her, Kyndal says that life is about serving others. Kyndal hopes that she isn’t remembered by her accomplishments on the court, but instead by how she used those gifts to give back to others.
