One of the top players in the upcoming MLB draft, Stillwater star Jackson Holliday has showcased his unheralded potential throughout the course of his career in baseball. The son of former MLB All-Star Matt Holliday, Jackson has already made a name for himself by the way that he carries himself both on and off the field. As Jackson has quickly become one of the top hitters in the draft class, he says he hopes his time around the game is used to point others to Jesus.

Growing up, Jackson witnessed firsthand the life of an MLB star as Matt Holliday became one of the top hitters in the MLB. While Matt was often on the road, he and his wife, Leslee, always made sure that faith was a priority for their kids. Jackson says that has been monumental in his development into who he is today.

“Faith has always been important to me. I’m so grateful to be raised in a Christian home and have such great examples around me of how to be a follower of Christ.”

After growing into one of the top high school hitters early in his career, Jackson committed to Oklahoma State, where he would play under his uncle, Josh, who is the head coach there while Matt serves as an assistant coach. With Jackson likely winding up off the draft boards early in the first round, he says that regardless of where his future sends him he hopes to serve as an example to anyone watching of what God has done in his life.

“I just want to be able to share the good news and try to let as many people know who Jesus is and how much He loves you.”

At just 18 years old, the maturity and character of Jackson shines through more than anything else. With a family that he holds close and a faith that drives him every day, Jackson says that having those foundations has allowed him to succeed.

“Faith plays a major role in baseball and my life. I want to honor the Lord in everything that I do and I try to represent that on the field, through my actions and how I carry my self on and off the field.”

With just a few weeks to go before Jackson hears his name called in the 2022 MLB Draft, he trusts that he will end up right where God needs him.

Throughout Matt’s career in the MLB and now as a coach at the collegiate level, the Holliday family has made an impact everywhere they have been. Now looking to continue that legacy, Jackson will use his close relationships with his parents and siblings to drive him throughout his budding career. With the excitement surrounding his name, Jackson remains humble as he looks to use his gifts to leave an impact.
