As the Auburn Tigers have become one of the most elite programs in college basketball, their 27-5 record has lifted them to a #8 ranking in the country. As the Tigers have found their success, they have been guided by the support of fan-favorite Wendell Green Jr. Nicknamed “Logo Wen”, Green has become a favorite off the bench for his play on the court throughout the year for the Tigers. After transferring from Eastern Kentucky, Green has made an immediate impact at Auburn both on the basketball court and in the community.

Originally from Detroit, Wendell says he grew up with faith always being an important part of his life.

“I grew up in a Christian home, so faith in God has always been the foundation of my life, and it’s never changed from that way.”

After committing to Eastern Kentucky out of high school, Green became a star for the Colonels as he started 25 of 29 games for the team his first year there. After announcing his transfer to Auburn, not many knew his name coming in. But that quickly changed as he has become one of the most consistent contributors for Bruce Pearl’s team and helped lead Auburn to the year they have had.

As Green takes the court, he says he does so with faith as his guide. Crediting God for all the blessings in his life, he says his faith is what allows him to play the way he does every single day.

“Faith is everything to me in whatever I do. I always want to keep God first and let him lead me in every decision I make or will make in the future.”

As Wendell and the Tigers prepare for the NCAA tournament, Wendell says he is forever grateful for the blessings he has had and looks to help the Tigers make a deep run as a 2 seed in the tournament.

Throughout his time at Auburn, Wendell says he hopes to make a greater impact on the community and inspire whoever may be watching him. He says his gifts have given him a platform to inspire others.

“My biggest impact that I want to have with the platform I’m on is just to show how God has impacted my life and can help anyone’s life no matter what the circumstances. I also want to show that none of this is possible without God being first in my life.”

Wendell says that he has learned to trust God regardless of the results on the court, and just to be grateful for every single day and the chance to play the game that he loves.

With the upcoming NCAA tournament featuring more anticipation than ever before, Wendell says he can’t wait for the chance to play on the national stage against some of the top talent in the country. As he steps onto the court for every game, he is guided by his faith that he holds close and a work ethic that is unmatched. With his journey only beginning, the future continues to be incredibly bright for Wendell Green Jr.
