Lindsay Krause - Making an Impact

The top 2021 recruit out of the state of Nebraska, homegrown Husker star Lindsay Krause immediately made an impact during her first year on the collegiate scene. Named to the Big Ten All Freshman team, Lindsay Krause gained an early following for her skills and energy on the court. As she helped lead Nebraska to an appearance in the National Championship against the Wisconsin Badgers, it was faith that played a key role in guiding her throughout her first year journey in Lincoln.

Skutt Catholic High School star and Nebraska native, Lindsay Krause is one of the most anticipated names to come to Nebraska. The 2nd ranked recruit in the entire class of 2021, Coach John Cook did all he could to help Lindsay stay home and play for one of the top programs in the nation. During her freshman year, Lindsay says that not only did she develop on the court, but she also began to emphasize her faith and leaning into that more than ever before.

Growing up in the Catholic church and going to Catholic schools, Lindsay says that being on her own for the first time in her life has encouraged her to explore her faith even more.

“Leaving home to go to college was the first time in my life that I feel my faith has played a prominent role in my life. It is now my choice to follow God and not something I do because I was raised to do it.”

After breaking onto the Division 1 scene immediately during her freshman year, Lindsay was Big Ten Freshman of the Week in September and capped the season with 12 kills, 5 blocks, and 6 digs in the Huskers loss to the Wisconsin Badgers. As she made an impact on the court, Lindsay says her faith helped guide her performances throughout the course of the year.

“Faith for me is essential because being an athlete at the college level sometimes you can get caught up in the idea that your entire identity is your sport. My faith reminds me that I don’t have to earn my love, and that I am loved by God regardless of my performance on the court.”

For Lindsay, that mindset gives her peace regardless of the result on the court knowing she has an identity away from the game.

As Lindsay looks towards the rest of her college career, she says she hopes to use the time she has around the game of volleyball to inspire anybody watching. She says she remembers being a kid and watching her favorite players, and wants to be that role model for the next generation of athletes.

“I hope to be a role model for young boys and girls everywhere. I remember being 10 years old and watching the Nebraska volleyball games and still can remember those players I watched in 2012 and in 2013. I hope to simply make an impact on someone’s life.”

Lindsay says that through whatever means, she just wants to encourage kids to always put their mind to whatever they want to accomplish.

“I hope I can help someone discover new things about themselves they have never known through my athletics, too. With getting more and more into my faith too, I aspire to use my platform to share that more as well!”

As Nebraska brings in another one of the top recruiting classes in the country for 2022, the excitement for Nebraska volleyball only continues to build. As Lindsay and the rest of the Huskers team prepare for whatever the next season brings, she says she hopes to give her best in all phases of life. On the court, in the classroom, and in the community, Lindsay says she hopes to be remembered as someone who gave their all and inspired others to always do the same.
