For Starck, faith has always been a cornerstone of her life. In her own words, “Faith has played a role in my life as an athlete by always being the outlet that is constantly there for me. Being an athlete at a high level comes with a lot of stress that nothing really can prepare you for. Having God be my outlet made me stronger not just as an athlete but as a person. God helped me get through pressures of being an athlete that I never thought I could get through. He has given me a perspective of my life that I never thought I could see the way I do.”

In a world where the pressure to perform can be overwhelming, Starck’s faith provides a sense of balance and perspective. It has been her anchor through the highs and lows, offering her a lens through which she views both her struggles and her blessings.

Starck’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. During her junior year of high school, the stress and pressure of high-level competition began to take a toll on her.

She recalls, “Growing up, my faith has really always been the center of my life and my family. The older and more busy I got, I could see myself falling away from my faith and didn’t notice at first how it can change a person. During my junior year of high school, stress and pressure took over my life, and I didn’t know if I could make it past the place I was in. I realized that the one thing that had changed was God wasn’t as much a part of my life as He was. I started focusing and implementing God into my life as an athlete and saw a huge difference in the way I view my struggles and blessings I have in my life.”

This pivotal realization marked a turning point for Starck. By reintegrating her faith into her daily life, she found renewed strength and clarity. This experience not only helped her navigate the demanding world of volleyball but also reaffirmed her belief in the importance of maintaining a strong foundation.

Izzy Starck’s message to young girls is clear and powerful: don’t seek your identity in your performance. She hopes to be a beacon of hope and encouragement, showing that even when the future seems daunting, there is always a greater plan in store.

“The impact that I hope to have is giving young girls hope that even though the future is scary and things might not go as you want them to, God will always be there for them. I hope to see girls finding their outlet and not just looking up to players to be just like them but using them as an inspiration to become their own person through the challenges it comes with. I hope people see my platform as someone who values their faith and uses it as fuel to become the best version of themselves,” she shares.

Starck’s journey is a testament to the power of faith and the importance of staying true to oneself. By embracing her faith and using it as a source of strength, she not only excels on the volleyball court but also inspires others to find their own paths to resilience. As she continues to rise in the world of volleyball, her story serves as a guiding light for young athletes everywhere, reminding them that true identity and strength come from within.
