“Faith has always been super important to me and it is really what guides me through life. I don’t know where I would be without my faith and I’m thankful for that.”

As she continues to grow now during her college years, she is grateful for the foundation that she was brought up with.

Skylar’s parents played a pivotal role in making faith a priority in their house. Skylar’s dad, Stacy, says, “I use faith as a way to keep me and my family connected and grounded in our connection to God in this crazy world. As a father, there is so little I can control, so I encourage my family through faith to depend and lean on God.”

Now having watched Skylar compete on the national stage for the championship game, he emphasizes how proud he is to watch her grow both on and off the court.

“It’s been amazing to watch Skylar grow in her faith. Truly God is preparing her for his bigger plans for her life. Her faith has shown me as a father just how powerful God is as he has kept and preserved her throughout the entire process. I continue to pray that God let’s his light shine on her and give her his reward as an example among the people so that he may be glorified.”

After graduating from Ridge Point High School, Fields went on to play volleyball at the University of Texas. After joining the Longhorns, she made a significant impact as she helped lead the Longhorns to some of their best years on the volleyball court.
