One of the most exciting players in college football, Trey Taylor’s dream of making it to the NFL came true on April 27th when he was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders. A former star at Air Force, Trey is now preparing for his time in the Silver in Black. Throughout his journey, Trey has been guided by faith and looks to use his platform as a way to give back. Growing up, Trey was a standout athlete in his hometown of Frisco, Texas. However, he wasn’t just known for his football prowess but also for his excellence in academics and his outstanding character. From a young age, Trey balanced his passion for sports with a dedication to his studies, setting a standard of excellence that would follow him throughout his life. As Trey entered college and began his football career at Air Force, he faced challenges both on and off the field. With an intense pressure to perform, Trey found himself struggling to cope with the demands of college life and collegiate sports. He lost sight of his faith, and as a result, says he lost his way. “I honestly lost my way a few years when I first got to college,” Trey reflected. “I was under a lot of stress, didn’t feel like I was achieving what I wanted to, and was frustrated, taking it all out on myself.” But even in his darkest moments, Trey never lost hope. It was during this time that he rediscovered his faith, finding solace in the community that supported him. “I started going to church again and surrounding myself with the right people,” Trey recalled. “And in turn, I started to hear God in my daily life again.” With his faith restored, Trey’s perspective began to shift. He no longer saw football as just a game but as an opportunity to glorify God with his talents. “My faith in Christ has been the only thing that consistently gave me clarity in my career,” Trey explained. “Giving the good and the bad back to God has relieved me a lot of stress.” Trey’s performance on the field soared as he became a force to be reckoned with in the world of college football. He earned accolades and honors, including the prestigious Jim Thorpe Award, becoming the first player in Air Force history to receive such recognition. Now, as Trey prepares to embark on his NFL journey with the Las Vegas Raiders, he knew that his purpose extended far beyond the field. He sees his platform as an opportunity to inspire others and to share the message of faith and resilience that had guided him through his own struggles. “The biggest impact I hope to have from the platform and gifts I have is to show that it truly is possible to achieve what you want to achieve from any situation or walk of life you come from,” Trey declared. “And to show there is strong Christianity and representation in collegiate and professional sports.” As Trey Taylor steps onto the field as a member of the Las Vegas Raiders, he carries with him not just his talent but also his faith—a reminder of what has led him to where he is and a chance to use his gifts to now bless others.
