Elijah Jackson - Beyond the End Zone

Helping guide the Washington Huskies to a 9-0 start to the season, starting cornerback Elijah Jackson has made an impact since arriving on campus in Seattle. Elijah’s journey with the Huskies has been guided by faith, which he says plays a key role in his life. As he strives to propel the Huskies into the College Football Playoff, he has a bigger goal in mind – to make a lasting impact off the field.

Faith has always been an integral part of Elijah’s life. He credits his parents for instilling it in him from a young age. A highly touted recruit from California, Elijah says his faith has helped keep him grounded and humble throughout the course of his life.

“Faith has always been an important part of my life. Growing up my Mom and Dad raised me in a way that helped instill the love of God in me!”

In the 2022 season, Elijah made an impact by participating in seven games, starting in two. However, 2023 marked a significant milestone as Elijah emerged as a key leader for the Huskies’ defense, starting every game thus far. As the Huskies set their sights on an undefeated season, Elijah says that his faith plays a pivotal role in his football career.

“My faith plays a huge role in my football career because before I believed in myself, God believed in me. One of the reasons why I continue to strive for greatness is to get on a platform where I can spread God’s message.”

Elijah says using his platform for good is something that drives him. In just his short time with Washington so far, he has already emerged as a pillar in the community, working to make a difference in any way possible. He says with that platform, he hopes to show what you can accomplish through God.

“I hope my platform shows Proverbs 3:5-6: ‘Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths.’”

With a challenging matchup against Utah ahead, the Washington Huskies are determined to continue their 2023 season with another victory. However, for Elijah, the result on the field is not the ultimate measure of success. His identity is rooted in something far deeper than the outcome of any game.

As he continues to pursue his dreams, both on and off the football field, Elijah Jackson has become a beacon of light in the lives of those around him. Through his faith and his commitment to making an impact, he will continue to serve as an inspiration for years to come.
