One of the top prospects in the MLB, Harry Ford has been a quick riser through the Mariners system after being drafted by Seattle in the first round of the 2021 MLB Draft. Making a name for himself with his raw power, speed, and athleticism, Ford has fans excited about all he will offer the Mariners in the future. As Harry prepares to continue making the climb towards the MLB, he credits his faith as the reason that he’s where he is today. “I battled with many different things and found ways of hiding the pain I was feeling through things like weed, sex, nicotine, and other things. But as time went on and these remedies made me worse I began to seek God, and I found him! He freed me from these addictions and began pouring his love into me. Now I hope to share his love with others and continue to seek him to grow my faith.”
Now in his third year of professional baseball, Harry says that faith has been his anchor throughout the course of his career. In the ups and downs of the game, Harry says that relying on faith has given him an identity that doesn’t waver with success or failure.
“Faith plays a huge role in my career, it gives me my true identity of being a child of God that I would never find in baseball alone. It also helps a lot when I struggle in the game because my faith reminds me that God has plans for me to prosper not to hurt me. Even if I am not performing well, I am still worthy in the eyes of my lord and savior Jesus Christ.”
As Harry looks towards his future in baseball, he is focused on becoming the best player that he can be. However, Harry knows that even more important than his performance on the field is the person he is away from it.
“I want to share the gospel to everyone that I can. I want people to know that Jesus loves them and that he is just waiting for them to seek him. I hope that people can see my story and see the light working in my life. To further strengthen their faith in God because I am not supposed to be where I am today.”
Harry grew up as the son of two immigrants, who had no experience in baseball before coming to America. Harry says that even in the midst of the uncertainty in life, faith is what allows him to always get back up no matter what.
“I have done things in my life that should have knocked me down for good and yet God still performs miracles in my life. God deserves to be first in every person’s heart, his name deserves to be lifted up high, he deserves all the glory. I hope and pray people’s hearts are open to hear his message.”
Currently in High-A with the Everett AquaSox, Harry looks to continue rising through the Mariners system as he looks towards making his dreams come true on an MLB field one day. Harry says that he is focused now on the journey, though, and using every moment to spread and share God’s love. No matter what happens on the field, Harry knows where his identity comes from, which allows him to play the game he loves with joy and freedom every day.
